The UPSC exam pattern is split into 3 stages:
Preliminary examination
Main examination
Personality Test
UPSC exam pattern for Prelims (2020)
The exam date is released by UPSC for prelims examination which is 31st May 2020. The preliminary examination stage includes 2 papers. Both the papers conduct in at some point.
If the applicant can clear the prelims examination, then he/she will qualify for giving the most examination. The preliminary exam score won't be counted within the final merit list.
There will be negative marking for each wrong question within the paper.
The duration of each paper is 2 hours.
The paper is going to be objective type.
UPSC Exam Pattern for Mains (2020)
The main stage of the UPSC exam is conducted in 9 papers.
The main examination conducts up to 5-7 days.
The students got to score good marks generally studies I and 33% marks generally studies II within the prelims examination.
The duration of each paper is 3 hours.

Paper A: One Indian language

Paper I: Essay writing (English comprehensive, writing skills, etc.)
Paper-II: General Studies I (Indian culture; Modern Indian History; Post-independence topics and world history; Indian society, diversity of India; Role of women).
Paper III: General Studies II (Indian constitution; Functions and responsibilities of varied aspects of India; Indian constitutional scheme; Parliament and state legislature; Parliament and state legislatures; Representation of People’s act; Welfare scheme/NGO role; Social sectors).
Paper IV: General Studies III (Technology; Economic turn of events; Bio-assorted variety; Environment; Security and fiasco the board).
Paper V: General Studies IV (Ethics; Integrity and Aptitude).
Paper VI and Paper VII: Optional subjects
IAS Exam Pattern for UPSC Prelims
The IAS exam pattern for prelims examination 2020 is going to be persisted 31st May 2020.
The term of the test is of two hours.
The exam will contain 2 papers which can be persisted an equivalent day.
The inquiry paper will be the target type.
For every wrong answer, there'll be negative marking.

The IAS exam pattern for main examination 2020 is going to be held after the prelims UPSC exam.
The duration of the UPSC main exam is 3 hours.
There are 9 papers that will be held within 5-7 days.
